Situation

How to use the frgnames.cfg file.
What is the character limit on the GWIA's Foreign ID field.

Resolution

Create a frgnames.cfg text file in the domain\wpgate\gwia directory.
Include each Internet domain name, separated by a space, just like you would in the Foreign ID field.

There is a 140 character limit to the FRGNAMES.CFG file.

Additional Information

There is a 124 character limit in the Foreign ID field of the GWIA object. Normally, you add the different foreign ID's (Internet domain names) by typing them (with a space between each host name) in NWADMIN | GWIA | Details | Foreign ID. This field supports a maximum of 124 characters. For situations where the host names required exceed this limit, the FRGNAMES.CFG feature was added with the GroupWise 5.2 and 5.5 GWIA. You can add additional foreign names in this file to overcome the 124 character limit. This file must be created by the user in the DOMAIN\WPGATE\GWIA directory. Each foreign name is added on a line by itself in the file. Exit and restart GWIA to force it to use the additional foreign names. There is a 140 character limit to the FRGNAMES.CFG file.

Note: When using this file, the gateway will receive mail for each Internet domain name specified. It will, however, mark all mail as being sent from the first name in the list. If this is not the desired outcome, it is better to configure either post office or user aliases.
