Environment

Products:
Novell SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9
Novell Open Enterprise Server 1 (Linux based)
Configuration:
NFS share mounted during boot using /etc/fstab

Situation

ERROR: "File size limit exceeded" while copying file greater than 2 GB to an NFS share.
Unable to copy file greater than 2 GB via NFS.

Resolution

  1. Open /etc/fstab in an editor.
  2. Make sure that the options for the NFS mount contain tcp or nfsvers=3
    Example
    10.0.0.1:/vol /nas nfs tcp,defaults 0 0
    or
    10.0.0.1:/vol /nas nfs nfsvers=3,defaults 0 0
