Groupwise is unable to monitor '<filepathToApp's-EXE>' and cannot automatically return it to the library when exiting the application. To return the document, right-click on its reference in GroupWise, then select 'Reset document status.'

Novell GroupWise 2012

Situation

Loading PDF or another document from gwClient with a 3rd party application such as PhantomPDF.
The following error is returned in the GroupWise Client:
Groupwise is unable to monitor '<filepathToApp's-EXE>' and cannot automatically return it to the library when exiting the application. To return the document, right-click on its reference in GroupWise, then select 'Reset document status.'

Resolution

This has been Reported to Engineering.At the time of writing this TID, this should be fixed with a newer build (112916+). Please open a Service Request with Novell Technical Support for access to this fix.

Cause

Components in path to third-party application contain more than 8 characters.

Additional Information

Alternative workaround for FoxIt PDF reader and other applications:
  1. Move the directory of FoxIt PDF reader to C:\FoxIt
  2. Rename exe of application and any pathing so each component is less than 8 characters.
