Situation
A mixed GroupWise 7 and 8 system can send internet email out with GroupWise users in UPD@domain .com format if the GWIA is 7x..
Steps to duplicate:
A GroupWise system with a 8x post office and at least one 7x post office.
A 7x domain and a 7x GWIA.
A GroupWise 8x user logs into an 8x client and sends an email to a internet user and adds a GroupWise 7x recipient to the CC: or To: line. The email is routed to the internet by the 7x GWIA The internet recipient will see the 7x user in UPD format as UPD@domain.com.
Resolution
This issue has been fixed in patch GW703HP3 or higher. There is not a problem in GroupWise 8.
Additional Information
It is common for a mixed GroupWise 7 and 8 environment to leave the GWIA 7x until every 7x post office has been upgraded. The GWIA acts as a client in the case of IMAP and POP. A 8x client cannot access a 7x post office.
