MSIEXEC.EXE error upon updating from GroupWise 7.03 to GroupWise 8.0

Environment

Novell GroupWise 7 Support Pack 3
Novell GroupWise 8 Hot Patch 1

Situation

Issue:
When users on Windows XP are updating from GroupWise 7 Support Pack 3 to GroupWise 8 Windows client part way through the installation the following error appears and the install fails :

"WMS Notif Window: Msiexec.exe Entry Point Not Found, The procedure entry point WPFGetFAFromList could not be located in the dynamic link library GWENV1.DLL"

Resolution

It was discovered by the customer that when they removed a GroupWise C3PO from Windows Add / Remove programs then they could update to the GroupWise 8 windows client with no errors.

The C3PO is the GroupWise Import Utility 2.1 for Microsoft Outlook
