Environment
Novell GroupWise 7
Novell GroupWise 8
Novell Open Enterprise Server (Linux)
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
Situation
Symptoms:
Error "Failed trying to open the domain" while connecting to domain database through linux ConsoleOne
Unable to connect to the domain database through linux ConsoleOne
ConsoleOne running on Windows workstation can connect to same domain database.
Configuration:
Domain directory was located on a NSS volume on the linux server
GroupWise agnets were running with the root user credentials
Resolution
In this scenario, ConsoleOne was running with non-root user privilege whereas GroupWise agents were running with the root user privilege.
Make sure that the ConsoleOne should be running with the same user credentials as that of the GroupWise agents.
