Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 2
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 Service Pack 3
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11
XEN
Windows 2008 Virtual Machine

Situation

After the VMDP is installed on a W2k8 server, multiple errors start showing up
in the event viewer:

Error 3/30/2010 10:38:59 PM ACPI 6 None IRQARB: ACPI BIOS does
not contain an IRQ for the device in PCI slot 4, function 0. Please contact
your system vendor for technical assistance.

Error 3/30/2010 10:38:38 PM Disk 15 None The device,
\Device\Harddisk0\DR0, is not ready for access yet.

Error 3/30/2010 10:38:38 PM atapi 11 None The driver detected a
controller error on \Device\Ide\IdePort0.

Resolution

The "6" errors are easily eliminated by replacing "model rtl8138" with
"type netfront" in the vif configuration for the vm.

The type 11 and 15 disk errors are informational only. They are under investigation but cause no impact to the VM.
