This document (7008208) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Novell Client for Windows 2000/XP/2003 4.91 SP3
Novell eDirectory 8.8 for All Platforms
Novell NESCM  (Novell Enhanced Smart Card Method)
Novell NMAS 3.3.2

1.   The Windows session is started using the smart-card and a password.
2.   When the smart-card is removed the Windows session get locked.
3.   When the card is again inserted and the password is re-entered the session is unlocked.
4.   However, the second time the card is removed the workstation is not locked again.
(Expected behavior is the workstation would again be locked.)

This has been fixed in the Novell client 4.91 SP5 (IR1) and later.

Additional Information

This is a known issue in older clients when they are configured for Passive Mode.  If the Novell Client is configured for Passive Mode you will not get the lock the second time the card is removed.
