ConsoleOne hangs on launch

When running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 or 11 in a virtual machine environment such as VMware, ConsoleOne will hang on launch. The behavior is intermittent and may not happen at all or may happen multiple times in a row. When it hangs the only recourse is to kill the hung process and try again.

The problem appears to be triggered by moving the mouse during launch of ConsoleOne. If you double click on the ConsoleOne desktop icon but otherwise keep the mouse absolutely still until ConsoleOne launches, it appears to work every time.
