AFP Will Not Stay Running

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3

Situation
- AFP will not stay running
- AFP must be restarted daily
- Mac users cannot log in
- /var/log/messages shows lines similar to the following:

Resolution
- Disable the NCP watchdog function
- Edit /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf
- Change the
FIRST_WATCHDOG_PACKET 1
to
FIRST_WATCHDOG_PACKET 0
Workaround:
If you need the watchdog function then use the following to restart AFP:
rcnovell-afptcpd restart
- Edit /etc/opt/novell/ncpserv.conf
- Change the
FIRST_WATCHDOG_PACKET 1
to
FIRST_WATCHDOG_PACKET 0
Workaround:
If you need the watchdog function then use the following to restart AFP:
rcnovell-afptcpd restart
