PlateSpin Portability Suite
PlateSpin Forge
PlateSpin Protect/Migrate
This article provides information about an image capture or image sync job failing with following error when the image(s) are stored on a network share:
Access Denied
This issue occurs because the PlateSpin OFX (Operations Framework Controller) service on the PlateSpin Image Server does not have the appropriate read/write access to the network share where the image is being stored. By default, the OFX controller is installed under Local System account on a Windows machine. In certain situations, it might be locked or restricted (via GPOs, security templates or local policies) and this prevents the controller from functioning optimally.
This issue can also recur after an upgrade of the PlateSpin application as the OFX controller on the PlateSpin Image Server is replaced with a new one using the default Local System Account.
To resolve this issue, change the logon account for OFX controller service to an account with local admin rights on PlateSpin Image Server. Here are the steps:
1. Open the services console (Start > run > Services.msc) on the PlateSpin Image Server.
2. Right-click on the PlateSpin Operations Framework Controller service and select 'Properties'.
3. Select the Log On tab and change the log on account from Local System to a local or domain account with local admin rights and read and write permissions on the network share where the image is being stored.
4. Restart the PlateSpin Operations Framework Controller service for the changes to take effect.
There is a new feature added in Migrate 9.1, Protect 10.1 and Forge 3.1 which allows the OFX controller to be deployed on source under a specific user (used when configuring migration/protection job). For more information, see TID 7009028.
