Situation

WSUS may hang when configured to install policies during device shutdown

Resolution

Configure WSUS (Windows Server Update Services) by updating the registry instead of using a Group Policy.
These settings may be delivered via a ZCM Bundle.
Microsoft KB Article 328010 details how to configure WSUS via registry settings.

Additional Information

The issue occurs because ZCM GPOs are unenforced when the device is shutdown.
This will cause WSUS to become unconfigured while it is running and lead to improper operation.
