Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3

Situation

CIFS fails to start with DST volumes mounted
Shadow volume's directory is not in /media/nss
Error in /var/log/messages:  "kernel: cifsd[####]: segfault at 0000000000000001 rip
00002b445766dd90 rsp ################ error 4"

Resolution

Fixed in these versions:

OES11:
novell-cifs-1.3.0-33.4

OES2SP3:
novell-cifs-1.2.0-0.70

Additional Information

As a workaround, set the shadow volume's directory to the default in /media/nss
1) Activate the primary and shadow pools
2) Deactivate the primary and shadow volumes (leave pools active)
3) "ncpcon remove shadow_volume /l <primary volume name>"
4) Mount the volumes
5) Highlight the shadow volume in nssmu and hit F2 to change the volume path to /media/nss/...
6) Use NRM to add the shadow volume back
