When installing a secure iPrint printer to Mac 10.8 or updated Mac 10.7 with the iPrint Client for Mac version 5.70, the following error is returned:
iPrint encountered a problem trying to retrieve information from the printer.
iPrint Printer - The printer cannot support the requested HTTP version.
This error occurs when installing the printer via the /ipp web page or using the iprntcmd tool.
Apply updated iPrint client and iPrint server code to support Mac 10.8. See TID 7010579 to learn how to obtain those updates.
Apple updated CUPS in the latest versions of Mac 10.7 and the initial release of Mac 10.8. These updates require a new version of the iPrint Client for Mac and an iPrint server update.
The iPrint Client for Mac version 5.72 or later is required for Mac OS 10.8.
OES1, OES2 SP1, and OES2 SP2 will not have the iPrint server code update required to work with the new version of CUPS and iPrint client for Mac.
OES2 SP3, OES11SP0, and NetWare 6.5 SP8 support Mac OS 10.8. See TID 7010579 to learn how to upgrade those server versions to support Mac 10.8.
OES11 SP1 has the necessary server requirements to support Mac 10.8.
