GWPOA crashes after updating to GW 8.0.3 on Windows

Novell GroupWise 8 Support Pack 3
Novell GroupWise 2012
Situation
After updating the POA to GW 8.0 Support Pack 3 running on Windows, the POA crashes frequently. This has also been reported by some customers running GW 2012.
Resolution
The workaround is to add the /udpslap switch to the POA startup file and restart the POA. This will bypass the TCP notification and use the UDP notification instead.
Cause
The core happens in the TCP Notify code.
At the time of the crash the log shows:
