Environment

Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux
CIFS
Dynamic Storage Technology (DST)

Situation

Example scenario using Windows 7 via CIFS:
  • DST Policy set to migrate files older than 7 days from the Primary Volume to the Shadow Volume
  • \old1.txt, meeting that criteria, is already migrated to the Shadow Volume
  • User creates \Folder1
  • User moves (via drag and drop) \old1.txt to \Folder1\old1.txt - resulting in the following error:
    • Destination Folder Access Denied
    • You need permission to perform this action
  • Problem does not occur with the Novell Client

Resolution

This has been resolved as per the release of the OES January 2013 Scheduled Maintenance updates.
