File operatons with Novell Client for Linux are slower than with Novell Client for Windows

Novell Client 2.0 SP2 for Linux

When using SLED and the Novell Client 2.0 for Linux (NCP 2.0 client), various operation are significantly slower than when using either the Novell Client 2 SP2 for Windows 7 or the Novell Client 4.91 SP5 for Windows XP/2003. Examples include browsing to a large directory structure, opening large files, and copy and pasting many files between directories.

The problem is related to the basic design of the Novell Client for Linux, having to do with data buffering. Improving the performance will require substantial code changes to the NOVFS kernel file system module.
