Environment

Novell GroupWise 8
Novell GroupWise 2012

Situation

You configure GWIA to reject SMTP incoming messages within Access Control Settings - some class of services to have a control what hosts can connect to your GWIA. For instance, you want only a relay host to be able to connect to the GWIA. Therefore you put your relay host in a exception list. However, when you want to connect from a relay host server to the GWIA, you get 554 IP connection rejected. In that way no mails from a relay host can be passed to the GWIA.

Resolution

A root cause of this problem is IPv6 configuration on a GWIA host. You will need to disable IPv6 protocol via following steps:

1. Start YAST2 -> Network Devices -> Network Card.
2. Edit existing NIC configuration -> Address -> Advanced -> IPv6. Here disable it.
3. Edit also  /etc/modprobe.conf.local and add these two lines:
alias net-pf-10 off
alias ipv6 off

Save the file and restart the server. If you after restart the server run ifconfig, the IPv6 shall not be listed and you could now successfully access via Telnet the GWIA host from a host that was added in the exception list.
