How do I apply or update my NetIQ AppManager software license?

This document (7011642) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

NetIQ AppManager Enterprise 8.0.x
NetIQ AppManager Enterprise 7.0.x

Situation

When you purchase an AppManager component, you are given a permanent 15-digit license key with no expiration date. Some license keys cover more than one component. As you purchase additional components, you receive new license keys. For example, there are separate keys for AppManager application monitoring modules, such as AppManager for SQL Server.

If you didn't enter license keys during installation, or if you purchase and install additional components, you need to update the license information.

Resolution

Adding a License Key

As you convert from an evaluation copy or purchase additional AppManager components, you need to update the AppManager license information.

To add and remove license keys, you must be a member of the AppManager Administrator role.

To update license information:
  1. Start the License Manager from the Start menu or from the AppManager Operator Console or Security Manager Help menu.
  2. Type the 15-digit license key you were given.
  3. Click Add to add the component and quantity to the list.
  4. To add additional keys, repeat Step 2 and Step 3.
  5. When you're finished adding license keys, click Close.
Your new or updated license should now be visible in the NetIQ AppManager License Manager.
Importing License Keys from a File

If you have multiple license keys, you may want to import the information from a file rather than typing the keys manually. When you purchase AppManager or request new licenses, you also receive a text file that contains all of the license keys.

To import the license keys from a text file:

  1. Start the License Manager from the Start menu or from the AppManager Operator Console or Security Manager Help menu.
  2. Click Import.
  3. Locate the license.txt file you received from NetIQ.
  4. Click Open. The license key information is imported and displayed in the License Manager.

Your new or updated license should now be visible in the NetIQ AppManager License Manager.
