PowerShell not found when running Discovery_NT

This document (7011834) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

NetIQ AppManager 7.0.x
NetIQ AppManager 8.0.x
NetIQ AppManager Windows OS module
Microsoft PowerShell

Situation

When running Discovery_NT the PowerShell object should be enumerated. However when running the discovery no errors are listed, and the object is not created.

Resolution

Install .NET framework 3.5.1 from Microsoft to provide the MCPSHostClient.dll with components it will need to properly register. Once it has been installed run Discovery_NT again.

Cause

This occurs because the MCPSHostClient.dll cannot be properly registered. This occurs when the web installer of .NET Framework 4.0 is installed. Components from .NET 3.5.1 are not included in this package, which the dll requires in order to properly register.
