Environment

NetIQ eDirectory
Novell eDirectory 8.7.3 for All Platforms
Novell eDirectory 8.8.x for All Platforms
NDS iMonitor

Situation

Having an excessive number of values in an object's attribute can lead to high utilization and long synchronization times.

Previously, on NetWare, one would use the "DSBROWSE -CV" command to find objects with a large number of values.  This TID's aim is to show how this is done via NDS iMonitor which is cross-platform.  (Ndsrepair will also report high values in its log.)

Resolution

NDS iMonitor, which is included with eDirectory, includes the ability to search the server's local DIB for high values.  This is a cross platform implementation.  To access the high value report use the following URL replicaing 'ipaddress' and 'port' with the IP address of the server and the port on which iMonitor is running:

Examples:

https://ipaddress:port/nds/valuecount?rptOption=config

Example on Linux:
https://192.168.1.1:8030/nds/valuecount?rptOption=config

Additional Information

DSBROWSE -CV was available on NetWare to search for High Valued attributes.  With NDS iMonitor 2.3, this functionality is available cross platform.
