Environment

Novell NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 8
Novell Open Enterprise Server 2 (OES 2) Linux Support Pack 3
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux
Novell Open Enterprise Server 11 (OES 11) Linux Support Pack 1

Situation

When performing Transfer ID migrations, a number of prerequisites must be met, as detailed in the Migration Tool Administration Guide in the prerequisites under the "Preparing for Transfer ID" documentation section.

So must the target server be installed using the 'Pre-migration server' pattern as a non-replica server with a temporary name.

When the Transfer ID migration has been executed, and the 'new' target server has assumed the identity of the 'old' source server, it was found certain details of the target server's pre-migration server identity were left behind.

The following problems were found :

Problem 1:
After Transfer ID migration has been performed, both the temporary server server name given before the migration, as well as the new server name following the transfer ID migration remain listed in :
'/etc/opt/novell/proxymgmt/proxy_users.conf'

E.g.:
    cn=OESCommonProxy_OES11TMP    <-- before transfer ID
    cn=OESCommonProxy_SERVER1    <-- after transfer ID

Problem 2:
The 'OESCommonProxy_<server_name>' user object in eDirectory contains two different CN values.

After the transfer ID migration has finished, the user object in eDirectory will also continue to list both the old, as well as the new, CN values similar as mentioned in symptom 1 earlier.

Resolution

This is reported to engineering, and is currently work in progress.

Cause

Problem 1 resolution :
Resolution was made in mignwproxy.sh to remove the old RDN values, solution is currently being verified.

Problem 2 resolution :
Resolution is "Work in progress".
