Environment

NetIQ Self Service Password Reset
SSPR 2.0.x
eDirectory environment

Situation

Can SSPR follow nspmComplexityRules?

Will SSPR honor an NMAS password policy with nspm complexity rules created following the cool solution "Creating a Custom XML Universal Password Policy"  ?

Resolution

SSPR will honor the complexity RuleSet XML, but will not display the rules to the user.

Additional Information

When the XML RuleSet is modified, SSPR will not show the custom rules to the user, but it will show appropriate errors to the user while they are typing the new password, and will only accept valid passwords.

SSPR will always allow eDirectory to enforce its own policy.  When the user types a password that does not meet the customized rule set, SSPR will show a relevant error telling the user to add more of class of characters and the user will not be able to use a password that does not meet the rule set.
