Zone-wide pre-install actions fail on updating Oracle db

Environment


Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2.3(a) System Update
Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management
Novell ZENworks Full Disk Encryption
Novell ZENworks Patch Management

Situation

The ZCM is running on Oracle SQL database
This has been seen mostly when Oracle db and/or db server is not set to English locale settings.

ZCM 11.2.3(a) system update zone-wide pre-install actions fails with an error ORA-01882 timezone region not found

Resolution

A fix for this issue is intended to be included in a future update to the product: however, in the interim, Novell has made a Patch available for testing, in the form of a Field Test File (FTF): it can be obtained at http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=8dsjH7lC_cY~ as "ZCM 11.2.3a fix for Zone-wide pre-install actions fail on updating Oracle db - see TID 7012196". This patch can be used to fix a failed upgrade, or to prepare before an upgrade to avoid the problem happening.
