Error installing ZCM agent on Windows 7

Environment

Novell ZENworks Asset Management 11.2
Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.2 Deployment
Novell ZENworks Endpoint Security Management 11.2
Novell ZENworks Full Disk Encryption 11.2
Novell ZENworks Patch Management 11.2

Situation

Deploying agent to Windows 7

Error "ZENworks PreAgent Error"
"Installation of novell-zenworks-actions-11.2.3.18534.msi failed"



and in the Windows event log, this can be seen




Resolution

Re-enable the Windows Compatibility Engine - probably disabled via a Group Policy



It can be verified by checking the registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\AppCompat,DisableEngine must be set to zero for the agent install to function
