Situation
XenDesktop 5.6 does not work with Domain Services for Windows with the Citrix DB on an external MS SQL server.
Installation of XenDesktop fails with the following error,
ExecuteNonQuery failed for Database 'XenDesktop_Database'.
Exception:
System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation.
at Citrix.Console.Common.CallbackEventArguments.OperationCompleteSynchronizer.CheckResults()
Installation of XenDesktop fails with the following error,

Resolution
To install the virtual machines XenDesktop 5.6 in DSfW domain with external SQL server use the following steps,
1) Install the XenDesktop 5.6 with a default/local Citrix DB and join the machine to DSfW domain.
2) Move the XenDesktop 5.6 Database to an external MS SQL server using the following Citrix link,
http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX128365
3) Try installing the virtual machines using the XenDesktop.
