NCP not listed as a Name Service

This document (7012590) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR2)
Windows 7
Windows 8
Windows Server 2008 R2
Windows Server 2012

After upgrading to Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR2), the list of Name Services in the Novell Properties pages no longer includes "NCP".

Working as designed.

Name resolution has always first been attempted using NCP, and then by other configured services. Beginning with Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows (IR2), NCP was removed as a configurable parameter. NCP is now a mandatory name service and name resolution will be first attempted using NCP and then, if the name is not resolved, other configured name services such as SLP, DHCP etc. will be tried.
