Environment

Novell GroupWise 2012

Situation

Older files with .mpf .jpg and other extensions appear in the directory specified in the webacc.cfg file as the File.Upload.Path and the cache subdirectory.  They can be as old as 7 days.

Resolution

These directories are used for caching of files/attachments that are viewed from within webaccess.  Webaccess is hard coded to remove files so they are no more than 7 days old.

If hard drive space is needed, they can be deleted if the tomcat process has been stopped.

Cause

When a document or image is requested to be viewed, Webaccess receives the html and all images needed from the Document Viewing Agent and stores them in the temp/cache directory.  Those files are gathered and sent to the browser by the Webaccess Application.

To prevent timing related issues serving up incomplete documents, those files are kept for 7 days and eventually deleted.
