Recon installation fails with error 'No database has been found'

Environment

NetIQ PlateSpin Recon 3.7.4

Situation

This article describes on how to overcome an error occurred during installation of PlateSpin Recon Server with database as local Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 2008 or 2003 operating systems.

Error message: No database has been found

Resolution

- On the PlateSpin Server, run regedit.
- Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa\FipsAlgorithmPolicy .
(This registry value reflects the current FIPS setting. If this setting is enabled, the value is 1. If this setting is disabled, the value is 0.)
- Change the value for Enabled to 0.
- Restart the server and retry the installation.

 

Cause

Recon installation fails at Data Seeding Step with Error No database has been found if the FIPS Algorithm Policy is set to enabled (value = 1).
