Environment

Novell Filr

Situation

Visiting http://filr_hostname:8443, https://filr_hostname:8443 displays:
HTTP Status 500 - Filter execution threw an exception

Resolution

Although there are several causes for this issue, this explains a solution for one scenario. Please visit the Master TID for the compilation.
  1. From a web-browser, open the Novell Filr Appliance Admin https://filr_hostname:9443
  2. Select Novell Filr Appliance Configuration | Search Appliance
  3. In the Search Appliance settings, reconfigure the Host Name field by providing the fully qualified DNS host name associated with the appliance's IP address. For example, myFilr.mynetwork.example.com.

Cause

Lucene Search Index Appliance requires the fully qualified DNS host name associated with the appliance's IP address, not an ipAddress. See documentation for Installing the Search Index Appliance, Step 14 - Hostname.
