iManager 277 upgrade on Windows WS error: could not initialize class novell.jclient.JClient

Environment

NetIQ iManager 2.7 SP7
Novell iManager 2.7.7

Situation

The Windows machine used by the administrator previously had iManager 2.7 Sp6 (2.7.6) workstation installed.  After extracting and running iManager 2.7 SP7 the following error is returned:
 
Unable to create AdminNamespace. java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Could not
initialize class novell.jclient.JClient
 
The following is seen in the iManager log file:
 
imanager\tomcat\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\bin\windows\jclient.dll: The specified procedure could not be found
NDSNamespaceImpl....236 This could be because of NICI or native library issues

Resolution

The problem occurs because the iManager 2.7 SP6 instance of iManager workstation installs NICI 2.7.6.  iManager 2.7 SP7 requires NICI 2.7.7.
 
To resolve the issue simply install the NICI that comes with iManager 2.7 SP7.  It can be found here:
<relative path>\imanager\NICI\windows\NICI_w32.msi.
 
Once installed both iManager 2.7 SP6 as well as iManager 2.7 SP7 will function normally.
