How to clean up an accidental bootstrap run on SUSE Manager

This document (7013366) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

SUSE Manager 1.7
SUSE Manager 2.1

By accident, a bootstrap script was executed on SUSE Manager. This document explains the necessary steps to revert the changes as SUSE Manager itself was not designed to fetch updates from its own hosted repositories.

  1. Edit /etc/suseRegister.conf and change the entry in "url =" back to

    url =

  2. Delete the contents of the following directories but not the directories themselves:

    • /var/cache/zypp
    • /etc/zypp/credentials.d/
    • /etc/zypp/services.d/
    • /etc/zypp/repos.d/

  3. Use the suse_register command or yast inst_suse_register to register the SUSE Manager back with the Novell Customer Center

  4. Delete the server profile in the SUSE Manager web interface.
