Cannot run programs residing on search drives using the "Run" command line

This document (7013399) is provided subject to the disclaimer at the end of this document.

Environment

Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows

Situation

After customizing the Start menu by enabling the "Run command" option, attempting to execute a program or batch file residing on a Novell search drive  (e.g. Z:) mapped in the login script in the "Run" dialog (e.g. "test.bat") will fail with an error such as, "Windows cannot find 'Z:.\test.bat'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again."

Resolution

Workaround:

MAP the drive as a regular (non-search) drive, and then use the login script "DOS SET" command to add the PATH entries like "Z:\PUBLIC" or "Z:\".
