Analysis Center installation failure - Unable to open WebSites.txt

NetIQ Analysis Center 2.9
Microsoft Windows 2012 64 bit
Microsoft SQL Server 2012

Situation

NetIQ Analysis Center 2.9 fails to install even though all prerequisites are passed with errors similar to:
 
Unable to open C:\Users\ADMINI~1.VIR\AppData\Local\Temp\{49AACB0F-BE7C-44D5-B5ED-F9C611418850}\WebSites.txt
 
and
 
No valid IIS Websites with ASP.NET v1.1 or above are available to install the Web Service.  Setup will not be able to continue without a valid IIS Website.  Please cancel setup and enable ASP.NET v1.1 or above on at least one website, and then re-run setup.

Resolution

Go to Server Manager | Roles | Role Services | Add Role Service and Web Server | Management Tools | IIS 6 Management Compatibility check to install "IIS 6 WMI Compatibility".  Once this is installed, you should be able to now install Analysis Center.

Cause

In Microsoft Windows server 2003/2008 when you select the IIS 6 Management Compatibility parent component in IIS every sub-component is automatically selected, but in Microsoft Windows server 2012 only some of the sub-components are automatically selected under the IIS 6 Management Compatibility selection, but the IIS 6 WMI compatibility feature needs to be selected to install Analysis Center.
