With the "vgdisplay -v" command a cluster locking error is shown on non cluster servers

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 3 (SLES 11 SP3)

On a default installed SUSE Linux Enterprise Server with Service Pack 3 without High Availability cluster installed when executing "vgdisplay -v" the following is returned:

:~ # vgdisplay -v
    connect() failed on local socket: No such file or directory
    Internal cluster locking initialisation failed.
    WARNING: Falling back to local file-based locking.
    Volume Groups with the clustered attribute will be inaccessible.
    Finding all volume groups

Volume Group information is then still displayed as expected.

The message is cosmetic and can be ignored, however should this behavior not be desirable it can be prevented by making the following change in "/etc/lvm/lvm.conf";

locking_type = 1

The default locking_type is set to 3 and the locking_type option is described as follows in "/etc/lvm/lvm.conf";

In SLES 11 the default is configured to cluster-based locking 3 to simplify the configuration in a cluster. When running in a non-clustered environment, the locking_type falls back to 1.
