Environment

NetIQ eDirectory 8.8 SP8 for Windows
Novell eDirectory 8.8 SP8 for Windows

Situation

On Linux the maximum number of threads eDirectory can use is controlled by the "n4u.server.max-threads" setting in the nds.conf file.  How is this accomplished on Windows?

Resolution

The maximum number of threads eDirectory can use is not a configurable setting when running on the Windows platform.

eDirectory, when running on the Windows platform, will start with 256 threads but the maximum it can use is hard coded to 512.  If all worker threads are busy for more than 1 second eDirectory spawns a new thread up to the 512 maximum.
