Novell GroupWise Mobility Service 2.1
Situation
Ever since an update from 2.01 to 2.1 Mobility 1 of the 2 Mobility servers ( no
changes other than update version ) has an issue with taking 1 1/2 hours to sync
new mail messages to devices.
Resolution
Set the device threads down to 20 from the current value of 30, which is likely too high. This former number works well for Novell production GMS servers and you probably shouldn't go any higher than this.
This value is set in
/etc/datasync/configengine/engines/default/pipelines/pipeline1/connectors/mobility/connector.xml
under the <connector><settings><custom><threads>.
So place this in the "<custom> section , if already there modify it to say :
<threads>20</threads>
Cause
The problem here is that the events are taking a long time to convert from GroupWise format to ActiveSync format. Part of the conversion process relies on
querying and writing to the database. The device threads also perform
queries and writes to the database and since there are 30 device threads,
database writes are being slowed way down.
