Collection Data Form fails to launch on Windows agents after upgrade to ZCM 11.3.1 FRU1

Environment

Novell ZENworks Configuration Management 11.3.1 FRU1 Inventory

Situation

  • Agent upgraded to ZENworks 11.3.1 FRU1
  • Running the Collection Data Form via zac inv cdf, the ZENworks Icon, or a Quick Task
  • The Collection Data Form fails to launch

The following errors could be seen in the zmd-messages.log:

When running the command zac inv cdf:

ERROR:
[CLM] [] [Unexpected exception in ProcessCommand: System.ArgumentNullExceptionValue cannot be null.
Parameter name: value
   at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.SetValue(String name, Object value, RegistryValueKind valueKind)


When clicking the Collection Data Form link in the ZENworks Icon menu:

ERROR:
[ZIconMod] [] [Invoking menu item threw exception: Value cannot be null.
Parameter name: value
   at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.SetValue(String name, Object value, RegistryValueKind valueKind)


[ZIconMod] [] [Invoking menu item threw exception: La valeur ne peut pas être null.

When starting the Workstation Inventory Wizard as a Quick Task from ZCC:

ERROR:
[InventoryManager] [] [InventoryManager WizardNow.ProcessAction threw unexpected exception]
[ActionManager] [] [Action handler Inventory.WizardNow finished processing Inventory Collection Wizard Now with error: WizardNow threw unexpected exception.]


[InventoryManager] [] [InventoryManager WizardNow.ProcessAction threw unexpected exception]
[ActionManager] [] [Action handler Inventory.WizardNow finished processing Inventorier l'assistant Collection maintenant with error: WizardNow threw unexpected exception.]

Resolution

This is fixed in version 11.3.2 - see KB 7015776 "ZENworks Configuration Management 11.3.2 - update information and list of fixes" which can be found at https://support.microfocus.com/kb/doc.php?id=7015776
