Dragging and dropping .pdf attachment from mail message to desktop adds extra information to the file name

When dragging and dropping a .pdf attachment from and email message to the desktop, there is additional information added to the file name.  The file name, once on the desktop, will be 

The fix for this issue is in the GroupWise 2014 R2 SP1 HP2 client located on the download.novell.com webpage.

The current workaround is to do a File -> Save As to the desktop for any pdf attachment that has any of the above 4 characters in the file name.
