Failed to add user to GMS after name change in eDir

Environment

GroupWise Mobility Service 2014 R2
GroupWise Mobility Service 18

Situation

  • GMS web admin console shows user with "Failed" status
  • GMS uses LDAP for provisioning users
  • GMS web admin console shows user disable/moved/deleted from Post Office
  • GMS mobility-agent.log shows: 
Problem adding user: cn=user1,o=novell; exception: 'NoneType' object has no attribute 'userConfiguredInGWC"

Resolution

1. Use dsapp to force remove user. 
User Issues | Remove & reinitialize user options | Force remove user
2. Use dsapp to remove disabled users
User Issues | Remove & reinitialize user options | Remove disabled users
3. Restart GMS
rcgms restart OR systemctl resart gms.service
4. In iManager 
Go to view objects | select user | other
Check all the attributes to make sure the name change is reflect
Select apply
5. Restart POA of the affected user

Cause

eDirectory attributes don't get changed to reflect the name change.
