Environment

Change Guardian 2.0.X

Situation

To able to save Change Guardian for Windows filters or be able to reload the default Change Guardian for Windows filter. In addition, you can write the Change Guardian configurations to local file; however, you can not write to the OnePoint database either using the Change Guardian UI or using configurationdata command line parameter.

Resolution

The fix for this is that you will need to reset the Configuration Group Password on every central computer. If the environment only has one Central Computer then the step below will only need to be done on that one Central Computer.

Navigate to the C:\Program Files\NetIQ Security Manager\OnePoint\ConfigPwdResetUI.exe. Launch the executable and reset the password.

Login in to the machine that has SM Central Computer and Change Guardian for Windows installed.
1. Use command line and go to ?C:\Program Files\NetIQ\Change Guardian for Windows?
2. Run the tool with the following parameters

***If you are using Windows 2008 command line make sure you open the command line as Administrator***

ConfigurationData.exe -w DefaultConfigurationData.xml successfully.  The results will be Results=Success, Return Value: 0
You will now have the default Change Guardian for Windows filter that is disabled by default. Now try to create a test filter and verify you are able to trigger the alert successfully.

Cause

If you are trying to create filters for CGW and you click on the finish button and the Apply Configuration Change now dialog box never populates.
