Situation
GWIA crashes or abends on certain incoming messages
GWIA crashes on Linux if Global Signature is enabled on relayed messages and message contains winmail.dat
GWIA abends on NetWare if Global Signature is enabled on relayed messages and message contains winmail.dat
Resolution
Apply GroupWise 8 Support Pack 1 or later.

Workaround Steps:
Disable Global Signature on relayed messages by following the steps listed below:
- Launch ConsoleOne and connect to the Domain.
- Highlight the GWIA object and select Properties.
- Click SMTP/MIME | Message Formatting and uncheck "Apply Global Signature to relay messages".
- Click Apply and Close.

Notes:
Winmail.dat file is sent from people using Microsoft Outlook as their email program. The file allows Outlook users to send Transport Neutral Encapsulation Format (TNEF) information along with the email so that it retains the look and feel of the document with formatting, fonts, and colors when its received by another Microsoft Outlook user.
