Applications can be associated to user, even without rights to the Application Object

Environment

Novell ZENworks 6.5 Desktop Management - ZDM6.5 Desktop Management
Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management - ZDM7 Desktop Management

Situation

If an administrator has full rights to a user object, they can associate applications to that user, even if the administrator has no rights to the Application Object. An error (602) is displayed, but the association to the user still happens.

Resolution

Fixed in ZENworks 7 Desktop Management Service Pack 1 Interim Release 3a, see KB 3484245 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7 Desktop Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

Without rights to both the the user and application objects, referential integrity cannot be maintained - the user will not show up as being associated if the application object is queried. This fix will prevent the association being made unless the correct rights to both objects are in place.
