ZENworks 10 agents are slow to login to the ZENworks server

Novell ZENworks 10 Configuration Management
Microsoft Windows 2003 Server

Situation

ZENworks 10 agents are slow to login to the ZENworks server.

ZENworks 10 agents take 10-20 seconds longer for the desktop to appear.

zenlgn.log file shows ERROR: ObtainAuthToken Failed: 0xC7FF001E

Resolution

In this instance, the cause of the problem is that the CasaAuthTokenSvc was not started on the ZENworks server.

On the ZENworks server, start the CasaAuthTokenSvc service from Start, Control Panel Administrative Tools, Services and make sure the Startup type is Automatic.

Additional Information

The following is an example of the zenlgn.log file showing a ZENworks 10 agent failing to login to a ZENworks server running on a Windows 2003 server (server111) where the CasaAuthTokenSvc is stopped, but then succeeding to login to a ZENworks server in the same zone running on a SLES 10 server (server112) where the casa_atsd daemon is started:
