eDirectory on Windows fails to start automatically after a reboot

Environment

Novell eDirectory 8.7.3.8 for Windows 2003
Patched with edir8738ftf_1.exe


Situation

eDirectory fails to start automatically on Server.
NDS Conns comes up blank.
ERROR: "Faulting application NDSCons.exe, version 105.53.40.0, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 5.2.3790.1830, fault address 0x0002b46b" in Event Viewer (Application log)
ERROR: " The description for Event ID ( 1 ) in Source ( NDS Server ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details"

Resolution

NIC needs to be initialized before NDS starts. NDS would fail to come up if NIC does not initialize completely.
Please make sure that the Network Card is working and configured properly.
Also please follow the steps listed below if needed
1. Click Start | Settings | Network Connections
2. Right Click Local Area Connection and select Properties
3. Click Configure
4. Click Advanced Tab
5. Select Speed & Duplex.
6. Change it from auto to a fixed value according to Network Settings
7. Save the changes and restart the server.
