Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 9

Situation

You have a 3 in 1 device (multi-function peripheral - MFP) that works as a printer, fax, and scanner. Printing is handled by CUPS, but how do you get the scanner and fax to work?

Resolution

Log into YaST
Select Hardware
Select Scanner (if scanner doesn't show as an option, then select Hardware Information)
If your device is not listed, then select ADD.
Select the Manufacturer/Model of your Three in One device.
Click Finish

If your device is not listed, you could try a third party solution by searching the web for HPOJ printer scanner.
