How to manually re-install the iPrint iManager Plugin

Environment

Novell iPrint for NetWare

Situation

Follow these steps to manually re-install the iPrint plugin for iManager if the Configure -> Available Novell Plug-in Modules method does update the plugin.

Resolution

a. Uninstall the iPrint iManager plug-in
i. In iManager, click the Configure button (icon of a person sitting behind a desk).
ii. Click Module Installation -> Installed Novell Plug-in Modules.
iii. From the displayed list of plug-ins, select the check box for the iPrint plug-in, then click Uninstall.

A message displays, indicating that the NPM has been successfully un-installed and that
the Web server must be restarted.

iv. At the server console, type:
ap2webdn
tc5stop
ap2webup

v. Make a copy of the existing iPrint plugin

* sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps\packages\ Look for a file that has the word iPrint.  Copy that file to a safe location

vi. From a mapped drive to the NetWare server where iManager is running, do the following:

* In the sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps\portal\modules directory, delete the iPrint subdirectory.
* In the sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\modules directory, delete the iPrint subdirectory.
* In the sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps\WEB-INF\lib directory, delete the ndps.jar file.
* In the sys:\tomcat\5.0\ directory, delete the work subdirectory.
* Starting from the sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps directory, search for files or folders containing iprint in the name.
Delete any files or folders found in the search. Repeat the search to confirm that there are no files remaining that contain the iprint in the name.

vii. Copy the latest iPrint iManager plug-in into the sys:\tomcat\5.0\webapps\nps\packages directory.

* go to download.novell.com, choose iPrint as the "Product or Technology" to download the latest version of the iPrint plugin for iManager.

viii. Start tomcat (tomcat5 ). 
 
b. Install the iPrint Management plug-in to iManager
i. Log in to iManager.
     Note: If iManager won't load, you may need restart Apache at this point.  (ap2webdn / ap2webup )
ii. On the initial iManager screen, there should be an indication of new modules available to install.
iii. Click install.
iv. From the displayed list of plug-ins, select the check box for the iPrint plug-in and click Install.
A dialog displays indicating that the NPM has successfully installed.

v. Restart the webserver

vi. Verify that the plug-in shows the new date.
Click the Configure button -> Module Installation -> Installed Novell Plug-in Modules
review the date shown for the iPrint plug-in
