Situation
ERROR: ./logparse: /lib/tls/libc.so.6: version
`GLIBC_2.3.4' not found (required by ./logparse)
Novell Audit logparser does not run on Red Hat 3 servers due
to GLIBC incompatibilities.
The Secure Logging Server (SLS) runs just fine on Red Hat
3.
The Novell Audit logparser runs just fine on a Red Hat 4 or
SLES 9 server
The problem did not exist in Novell Audit 2.0.0.
The problem was introduced in Novell Audit 2.0.1 and
later.
Resolution
In order to support newer versions of Linux, such as SUSE
Linux Enterprise Server 10, it was necessary to update the GLIBC
requirements for some of the Novell Audit components. This
library dependency change was made starting with the Novell Audit
2.0.1 code. The following are the list of options available
to work around the problem.
1.) Update GLIBC on the Red Hat 3 server to be version
2.3.4 or later.
2.) Update your Red Hat 3 server to a later version of
Red Hat server, or install SLES 9 or 10 in its place.
3.) The Novell Sentinel product ( https://www.novell.com/products/sentinel/
) has a syslog parser as a part of that product.
