Environment

Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management - ZLM7.2

Situation

Cannot use user "administrator" through zlman for any command that requires Administrator-level access

User "administrator" created via zlman

Can use user "administrator" via ZCC

Resolution

Delete user "administrator" via zlman (but make sure you have a backup administrator-level account as well, just in case!)

To obtain access to a hot patch with the fix for this problem, follow the instructions in KB 3469853 "Updates to Novell ZENworks 7.2 Linux Management" which can be found at https://www.novell.com/support

Additional Information

This problem occurs because zlman should not allow you to create a user called "administrator", as this user is created during installation. The user created by zlman is called "administrator" but has none of the rights. The fix prevents this user from being created via zlman.
