Situation

In versions of the Novell Client for Windows XP, Windows 2000 and Windows NT, the environment variable "NWUSERNAME" was automatically set to the CN of the user.  With the Windows Vista and Windows 7 clients, this is no longer the case.

Resolution

Fixed in Novell Client 2 SP3 for Windows, or later.

Additional Information

Enabling the "Run logon scripts synchronously" policy may be necessary to ensure the NWUSERNAME variable gets into the environment of the initial EXPLORER.EXE instance, so that it is present during the launch of any additional applications or Command Prompts.
